Lunar New Year Lion Dance 2025

The PAC is once again honoured to present the Lunar New Year Lion Dance at Van Horne. Please come join us Friday, Feb 21st, morning at 9:15 AM in the gym to celebrate Lunar New Year with a festive Lion Dance.

The performance will start in the gym and then move into the hallways. The Lion Dancers will dance through the hallways of all 3 floors of the school to “Choy Hung”, which means seeking fortune. They will seek the fortunes (Chinese Red Envelopes  filled with money) tied to heads of lettuce. The Lions will use its mouth to “chew up” the lettuce to obtain the red envelopes and then bless the room and people by the throwing shredded lettuce at you. It’s considered good luck to get hit by the shreds lettuce.
