Check them daily: Check your child daily for signs of being sick.
Keep them home if:
They show signs of being sick
They have traveled outside BCin past 14 days
They had contact with someone with symptoms (cold, flu, COVID, infectious respiratory disease)
They’re not scheduled to go to school that week
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE SCHOOL’S EFFORTS?
Have a dinner convo tonight: Walk through with your child the concrete details about how the rules (wash hands, keep distance, no physical contact, good hygiene) will look like in practice (e.g. no tag, no high fives, no sharing food, line up for washrooms, walk on the right side, etc)
Daily reminders: Remind your child before the start of a school day to practise good hand hygiene (e.g. wash hands) and respiratory etiquette (e.g. cough into elbow).
Pack them a water bottle (water fountains will be disabled, however, a water filling station will be in front of office)
If possible, assemble and label their own supply kit (to minimize the sharing of materials). E.g. glue sticks, pencil crayons, rulers, tape, scissors, etc.
Remind them of the rules and good hygiene habits
Drop them off in the back of the school in their classroom’s designated spot.
Give yourself extra time to arrive on time. If your child is late, send them to the front entrance, then call 604-713-4965 to inform the school; a staff member will pick them up.
If your child can manage, say goodbye to your child(ren) from outside the boundaries of the school property.
Please pack lunches that: Do not need reheating; Are nut free; Children can eat independently. You cannot drop off lunches.
OTHER NOTES:
If your child(ren’s) schedule causes you hardship, contact Principal Leung to troubleshoot.
Parents/guardians cannot enter the school.
Please respect traffic regulations: No stopping or parking in front of school
Mental health: For some students a return to school is exciting and for others it may be anxiety provoking.
Pay careful attention to your child/ren’s mental health and discuss how they may be feeling
If you need support, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child/ren’s teacher or the principal.
