What’s New for the 2018/2019 School Year
Feedback from parents, kids and staff has been very positive we are pleased to continue using FoodieKids as our PAC hot lunch vendor for the 2018/2019 school year!
We also want to let the parents know that FoodieKids adjusted their pricing and menu options for the 2018/2019 school year. A number of the popular items, such as baked chicken strips, side of chicken (for salad and pasta) and baked goods went up in price. Increases resulted from
increased labor costs, rising fuel and food costs.
To mitigate the impact of price increases on parents, the PAC hot lunch committee met in the spring and decided to work direct with a milk supplier for 2018/2019 to offset price increases. While you will notice there are some changes in prices, we are happy that many items on the menus will remain the same price as last year. Several new items have also been added to the menus, including a healthy pizza option (Pizzadilla), beef sliders, pasta with meatballs and new vegetarian options such as butter chickpea, tofu teriyaki and veggie noodle soup!
Hot lunch continues to be an important source of fundraising for all the great things we want to do as a PAC / parent community. Thank you for your continued support!

FAQ
Q: Will the vendor be able to accommodate children with food allergies?
A: Here’s the response from FoodieKids when we asked that same question: “We don’t cook with nuts nor are nuts allowed in the facility. We will not guarantee that our ingredients have not been cross contaminated with nuts or other allergenics in the manufacturers facility or along its route to get to us. Ordering is at the discretion of the parent or guardian. We take every precaution to prevent cross contamination of for example, gluten-free products. There is always a possibility so we advise if there is someone with serious allergies not to order but this is at the discretion of the parent or guardian.”
Q: I didn’t know about a field trip and already put in my lunch orders for the term, can I cancel my kid’s lunch?
A: You can change or cancel orders up until the order deadline (the Wednesday, 11:59 p.m. of the week before). If you have already paid, a credit will be applied to your Munchalunch account. If changes are after this order date, you may pick up your kid’s lunch in the PAC Fridge (in the cafeteria) within 48 hours. If unable to pick up, you can also email the lunch administrator (hotlunch@vanhornepac.com) to let her know to give your kid’s lunch to a child in need of a lunch.
Q: Can I contact the vendor directly about my child’s specific food allergies?
A: Yes. You can reach FoodieKids by email at service@foodiekidsinc.com or through Messenger feature on their Facebook page.
Q: Random question. Can teachers order their lunch through this system?
A: Yes!
